Solutions that last.

Safe Water Network, founded by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman, is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering healthy and thriving communities through sustainable water solutions in India and Africa. With the support of the Newman’s Own Foundation, major corporate partners—including PepsiCo, IBM and Cisco—and its global team of thought leaders, Safe Water Network had already begun carrying out its vision, but needed a partner to share their story and scale their efforts. It’s an organization with a complex mission, solving complex global issues and looking to reach a complex set of audiences—and we couldn’t wait to jump in.

A true partnership began with CHIEF’s dedicated effort to not only define the true Safe Water Network brand story, but to also identify the proper marketing channels to share their story across a variety of constituents including corporate partners, the water community, individual donors and, most importantly, those affected in Africa and India’s local communities.

Together, we identified the organization’s core differentiators and elevated Safe Water Network’s position to educate and motivate across all audiences. The result was a transformation from complicated industry-specific brand expression to a simple, universal market position and narrative, paired with a powerful new brand and completely reimagined visual system.

With the brand’s content, logo and design components firmly in place, we designed and developed a custom Drupal website to reinforce this new position and provide a forum to share greater detail on its initiatives across audiences. Leveraging Drupal’s open source technology, Safe Water Network has the full freedom and ability to easily make its own updates to the website—from content to design to technology.

Immediately following the brand and website launch, our relationship evolved through an aggressive brand rollout and an ongoing marketing partnership plan, including:

  • Brand consulting

  • Analytics support, implementation and recommendations

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategy and implementation

  • Email marketing strategy development and recommendations

  • Partnership marketing with Newman’s Own Foundation and PepsiCo
